Nation's First Tertiary Hospital Hydrogen Medicine Clinic
According to an official post released on the verified WeChat public account of Taian Central Hospital, the hydrogen medicine anti-aging module of the Longevity and Anti-Aging Center has entered trial operation; the original text is as follows:
To actively respond to the “Healthy China” strategy, practice the concepts of “preventing disease before onset and treating disease at an early stage,” advance the front end of diagnostic and treatment services, and further enhance the hospital’s health service capacity, Taian Central Hospital is making all-out efforts to build a Longevity and Anti-Aging Center; all preparatory work has been completed, and the hydrogen medicine anti-aging module has entered the trial operation stage.
“In the past, hydrogen applications were more common in new energy and industrial fields, but in recent years they have gradually been applied in medicine.” According to Wang Yumei of the Longevity and Anti-Aging Center, the hospital has introduced the only hydrogen–oxygen nebulizer in China approved as a Class III medical device. By leveraging the selective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and high permeability properties of hydrogen molecules, it penetrates deep into the human body to assist in improving the human microenvironment, thereby delaying the aging process at its source and achieving anti-aging effects.
In addition, the center will integrate internet hospital diagnostic and treatment resources to provide users with convenient medical services across the full anti-aging life cycle. Through the internet, the hospital has effectively “moved” experts from all departments online, enabling cloud-based sharing of medical resources. Patients’ examination data generated at the center are synchronously uploaded to the network and shared in real time with departmental medical experts. Based on these test data, physicians can rapidly make judgments and determine whether patients should be referred to backend hospitals for further diagnosis and treatment, truly realizing precision and efficiency in medical services.
It is understood that the Longevity and Anti-Aging Center will integrate diagnosis and treatment, research and development, and translational application; relying on the hospital’s existing foundation, it will integrate three core pillars—hydrogen medicine anti-aging, traditional medicine anti-aging, and modern comprehensive intervention anti-aging—covering diversified evidence-based anti-aging strategies such as hydrogen medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, gut function management, scientific health preservation, sleep health, mental health, and precision nutrition, and will be equipped with professional devices and technology platforms including hydrogen–oxygen nebulizers, AI-assisted intelligent TCM diagnostic systems, moxibustion robots, and integrated psychological and sleep screening–monitoring–intervention workstations, with the aim of providing citizens with standardized, comprehensive, individualized, and full-cycle scientific health management services.

Based on the positive effects demonstrated by hydrogen–oxygen inhalation across multiple diseases, hydrogen–oxygen inhalation has been included twice in Shandong’s medical insurance charging catalogs:
On January 5, 2021, “hydrogen–oxygen mixed nebulization” as a novel nebulized inhalation therapy was included for the first time in the Shandong medical insurance coverage, with explicit pricing standards[1].
On May 20, 2025, the official website of the Shandong Provincial Medical Security Administration released a notice (Lu Yibao Fa [2025] No. 15)[2], incorporating “hydrogen–oxygen mixed gas inhalation therapy” as a separately billable item, with pricing determined independently by medical institutions.
In addition, “the diagnostic and therapeutic application of hydrogen–oxygen mixed inhalation for analgesia”[3], “applications of hydrogen–oxygen inhalation to improve sleep-disordered breathing”[4], “clinical application of hydrogen–oxygen nebulized inhalation during the perioperative period of total hip arthroplasty in older adults”[4], and “applications of hydrogen–oxygen inhalation to improve pneumoconiosis-related respiratory dysfunction”[5], among others, have been listed as Shandong Provincial Appropriate Health Technology Promotion Projects.
Finally
The establishment of the hydrogen medicine outpatient clinic at the Longevity and Anti-Aging Center of Taian Central Hospital represents yet another milestone event following the inclusion of hydrogen–oxygen inhalation in medical insurance coverage! It is believed that in the near future, an increasing number of tertiary Grade A hospitals will apply hydrogen–oxygen inhalation, this innovative therapy, in clinical services, benefiting more patients!
